Alice McInerney is Europe Business Development Director for JD.com's fashion and luxury channels.

 

She arrived in Beijing in 2008 to work at the Olympics for the BBC. In her subsequent 8 years in China her career began in fashion journalism as fashion editor of Time Out magazine, alongside freelancing for global publications including Wallpaper*, Nowness and Style.com. Across print and video she has interviewed some of the industry’s titans including Diane von Furstenberg, Roland Mouret, Stella McCartney, Jeremy Scott and Victoria Beckham.

As the first journalist to discover the newly emerging Chinese designers, she promoted the rapidly evolving local fashion scene through feature articles, interviews and events both in China and in Europe. She later launched an e-commerce platform in 2011 to retail these designers and this company now has offline stores across China.

 

Her most recent fashion consultancy business bridged the gap between the Chinese and international markets. As an approved supplier for the British Government’s Department of International Trade and the British Fashion Council, she worked closely to promote British fashion in China through events including London Fashion Week.

 

She returned to Europe in May 2017 to begin her role at JD.com with a clear focus to recruit the most influential fashion brands and to help businesses fully understand the vast potential of the Chinese market offered by JD.com.

Alice holds a BA in Chinese & English from the University of Leeds.
